PULSAR OFFERS DIGITAL SOLUTIONS COURSE
Pulsar just completed a seven-week elective course on digital solutions for high-school students at Logos Academy. Logos Academy is a private, K-12 school in York, PA, dedicated to providing an excellent and affordable education for all families, and reserves two-thirds of classroom seats for students who live below or near the federal poverty line.
The course covered all the major solutions Pulsar offers, and included real-world examples from current projects to not only familiarize students with key technologies, but also to help them understand how projects are completed and what opportunities exist after graduation. The ultimate goal is to eventually offer internships and opportunities for students interested in pursuing careers in marketing, design, web development, and coding to gain experience prior to entering college.
Out of the 25 best jobs identified by US News & World Report this year, Pulsar offered some level of introduction to nine of them. Students were introduced to the following subjects throughout the course:
- Content creation - research and promotional writing
- Adobe Photoshop - bitmap image editing
- Adobe Illustrator - vector image creation
- Adobe InDesign - page layout and design
- Wordpress - web development through content management
- HTML & CSS - custom coding for websites
- Javascript - client-side programming languages
- PHP - server-side programming languages
- MySQL - relational databases
In addition to exposing students to these tools, they were also made available for them to explore this summer on their own in dedicated environments, with help available via text or email. Look for more updates on this development in the 2023-2024 school year as Pulsar continues to offer connections between education and sustainable careers in the next economy.
